Alone together - the hackathon to combat youth loneliness
March 23 @ 10:00 am - March 25 @ 5:00 pm
From 23 to 25 March (10:00 to 17:00), Samen only takes place: a hackathon with the theme of loneliness among young people. Ellen Temmink is conducting this hackathon on behalf of the municipality of Hengelo. In the hackathon, multidisciplinary teams jointly develop a sustainable approach against loneliness in young people.
What is a hackathon?
Good question! This hackathon is an online event in which four teams 'compete' to find the best possible solution for loneliness among young people. Two clients provide two real-life cases that the teams can use. They follow a step-by-step process to solve the complex problem. The steps are followed as follows.
Day 1: Conversations with lonely youth, developing a real understanding of the challenge and defining the actual problem.
Day 2: Brainstorming about different solutions and selecting the best ones to arrive at a concept
Day 3: Testing the concept together with lonely young people and presenting the results (the pitches).
A hackathon is a proven method of innovation. The modern hackathon was invented by Google and popular with many other (international) companies. Government institutions such as the Ministry of Defense, the municipality of Nijmegen and the province of Noord-Brabant also work with this method.
Would you like to participate?
Ellen is looking for participants for the hackathon. The hackathon works best when the teams are as multidisciplinary as possible. Do you want to use your expertise to think about an approach against loneliness in young people that is future-proof and really works? Then sign up!
What's in it for you?
- A super cool experience!
- You contribute to reducing loneliness among young people in the municipality of Hengelo.
- Introduction to a new innovation method, design thinking.
- Broadening your network from unexpected quarters.
- Inspiration for your regular activities, because you will be lifted out of 'your normal life' for three days.
You can register by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
In the hackathon, different teams work together for three days to arrive at an approach. The process the team goes through in such a short time is important for developing the approach, so you are expected to be there every day.
Excited, but you are not available all three days?
There is the possibility to only be present at the pitches. The results of the hackathon will be presented by the teams on Thursday afternoon, March 25 at 3 p.m. To attend, you can send an email to email@example.com and you will receive the link in due course.
