Keeping Talent in Twente
At the end of the summer, we were surprised that the University of Twente sent an email to international students to reconsider their registration if they hadn’t found a room yet. That email caused quite a stir, because it suddenly became apparent how great the room shortage is for new (international) students in this region.
Fortunately, all kinds of short-term solutions were quickly devised and implemented, but there are still hundreds of students without a room, almost a month after the start of the academic year. Reason for Keeping Talent in Twente and the EnschedeLAB itself to dedicate a challenge to it.
About this challenge
Keeping Talent in Twente & EnschedeLAB
On September 24 and 25 we organized a two-day ‘walk in challenge’ on this issue at the DesignLab of the University of Twente. Nearly 40 people found their way there and contributed, from employees of housing associations to policy makers and from students to property owners.
We explored the issue, checked all the questions we have about it and came up with solutions, or even put forward concrete building plans or places for this. In the presentation below, we summarize our insights, based on everything that was shared. We will share these widely, to draw attention to them, to use them to start actions for next year in good time and to invite you to contribute to it!
